Corbridge Roman Town

Corbridge Roman Town is the only place in Britain where you can walk along the original surface of a Roman 'high street'. Surrounded by the excavated remains of buildings including the granaries, markets, workshops and a fountain house, education groups can gain a greater understanding about life in the Roman era through actively exploring the site or visiting the on-site museum. The museum houses many fascinating items which cover every aspect of Roman life including the newly displayed 'Corbridge Hoard' – a Roman 'time capsule' discovered in the 1960s containing the worldly possessions of a Roman soldier. Younger educational groups can follow Grricola the Roman lion on a trail around the museum looking at a selection of amazing objects.
