Geography V

We know from written sources such as Ptolemy's Geography compiled around the middle of the second century. Ptolemy never actually visited Britain but would have got his material from other sources, such as military information and earlier geographers.

For the later Roman period, there are also administrative documents such as the Notitia Dignitatum that list military bases.
